In 1943, Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Randall founded the Three Rivers Aluminum Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and quickly began forging one of the region's major suppliers of premium building materials. In 1951, the company purchased modest production facilities and began manufacturing the first of the well-known "Three Rivers" aluminum storm doors and windows. In the 1960's, the company introduced the first Three Rivers Aluminum Company replacement windows and watched sales continue to increase as they began servicing markets outside the Pittsburgh region.
Growth and Innovation
The company continued to grow and in 1971 began construction of a new 12,000 sq. ft. production facility in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Two short years later, an additional 24,000 sq. ft. was needed to meet increased manufacturing demands. In 1976, the company made a strong commitment to become a national company with construction of a 250,000 sq. ft. production facility and a 30,000 sq. ft. corporate office building strategically located to better service the entire nation. The trademark, Traco — A Three Rivers Aluminum Company — was adopted to reflect the company's national commitment and direction.
Over the years, Traco's success and growth has been built on the strong foundation of teamwork. Team Members are involved in each step of the development and production process and work together to ensure continued profitability and growth for the company. Through this team approach, Traco is better able to make certain that manufacturing continually meets the highest quality standards. Each and every product consistently achieves fair market value through carefully controlled costs. Customer satisfaction is met by developing, producing, selling and distributing window and door products that meet and exceed customer expectations.
Traco was acquired by Alcoa in August 2010 and continues to be a premier manufacturer of commercial windows. At Traco, we strive to think ahead of market challenges and create innovative solutions. Traco is now a division of Kawneer — the strongest brand in the architectural systems market — and an important component of Alcoa’s global Building and Construction Systems business. By uniting two leading brands with rich histories of innovation, quality and performance, we can extend our reach beyond what was possible as two separate companies. A new era in windows is dawning, and together we are strengthening the bridge between Traco and Kawneer to provide an even broader range of products, services and support.
