Kawneer Product Development Manager
As a Product Development Project Manager at Kawneer Company Inc., Robert Holcombe is responsible for managing the development of new products and significant enhancements to existing products. His specific coordination responsibilities follow a product through the entire life cycle from initial concept, design development, proof of concept (testing & engineering), and manufacturing support to the marketing support that brings the product to market. He has the ability to adapt to various internal procedures and to form close links with clients; skills that are essential to ensuring that the key issues of cost, time, quality, and above all client satisfaction, can be reached.
As a Kawneer employee for more than 30 years, Robert has held a variety of positions that have prepared him well for his current role. After joining the company in 1978, Robert took on various drafting and take-off positions at the Jonesboro, GA manufacturing facility before relocating to the Norcross, GA corporate headquarters in 1984 as Product Designer. Three years later he joined the sales team, first as the Wall/Window Manager and then the Window Specialist for the southeastern area. During that time, Robert received two awards for outstanding performance.
More than a decade later, Robert was selected to head up Kawneer’s newly formed Architectural Services Team. Robert’s next role with Kawneer spanned five years as the company’s Window Product Manager. He has been in his current position for the past two years as Product Development Project Manager.
Robert attended Southern Polytechnic State University and studied architectural engineering. He holds technical certifications from the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) as a Certified Document Technician and a New Product Development Professional certificate from the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA).
A native of the Atlanta area, Robert enjoys many outdoor activities, especially boating and big-game hunting. His wife is a University of Georgia (UGA) Bulldog alum and his daughter is a recent graduate from the same school. Needless to say, he is a huge Bulldog fan!
