Norcross, GA -- Kawneer Company, Inc., an Alcoa business and the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum building products and systems for commercial construction, is returning to the AIA National Convention and Design Expo in Washington, D.C., May 17 – 19, 2012, with its latest products that demonstrate the company’s ongoing commitment to innovative, high-performance systems. The combined Kawneer and Traco exhibit space, booth #1429 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, will feature a wide range of products and solutions from both companies.

Highlights of the 2012 expo include Kawneer’s newest products that explore this year’s theme, “Design Connects.” Among the featured products are the ultra-thermal, sun control and window offerings, including:

• Versoleil™ Sunshade: Kawneer’s next generation Versoleil™ SunShade platform is now more flexible with the Versoleil™ Outrigger option for Curtain Wall and Storefront. Pre-engineered for multiple Kawneer systems, the design offers versatility in both form and function. Easily incorporated into any building envelope, the configurable blade options provide maximum energy-saving potential.

• NX-4000 Series Thermal Window:  The Traco NX-4000 Series Thermal Window offers an energy-efficient projecting window solution with the distinctive and historic look of a hung window. By combining the benefits of proven projected windows with hung replica window aesthetics, the design makes this new window ideal for retrofit projects.

• AA®4325 OptiQ™ Ultra Thermal Window: The result of a pioneering partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, OptiQ™ Windows reach new levels in thermal performance due to the groundbreaking features integrated into its design. This thermal intelligence allows the AA®4325 series to maintain thermal continuity, reduce thermal transmission and retain interior heat. OptiQ™ Windows are available in multiple configurations, with options for customization.

InLighten® Light Shelf:  Kawneer's architectural light shelf is a versatile solution that enhances energy savings. InLighten® Light Shelf’s new design leverages minimal material content, sightlines, weight, installation and maintenance efforts, all while maximizing value, daylighting and design options. New design features include translucent panel options and a tilt feature for ease of cleaning.

Kawneer's Ultra Thermal solutions are designed to address rising energy costs and stringent code requirements. In addition to the company’s array of high-performing products, experts will be available in the booth to answer questions and provide technical information.

Kawneer is among a limited number of exhibitors providing education opportunities on the expo floor within the CES Theatres. The recently added CES Theatre sessions offer an opportunity for exhibitors to present educational programs to show attendees looking to gain AIA Continuing Education System credits. Kawneer’s 60-minute class, which qualifies for a full learning unit credit, is scheduled for Thursday, May 17, from 10:30 to 11:30 in Classroom B. The session offers an exclusive look at Thermal Barriers in Aluminum Fenestration Systems and will be presented by Henry Taylor, Kawneer’s Architectural Service Team Manager and Chairman of the Building Envelope Contractor Committee.
