NORCROSS, GA – Kawneer Company, Inc., the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum building products and systems for commercial construction, is returning to the AIA National Convention and Design Expo with a diverse range of products and services that demonstrate Kawneer’s commitment to innovation. Highlights of this year’s expo appearance includes the continuation of Kawneer’s AIA-Registered Expo Education programs, as well as the introduction of Kawneer’s new AA®3200 ISOWEB® Sliding Door and the recently introduced Light Satin Aluminum Finish. The AIA National Convention and Design Exposition will be held in San Francisco, April 30 – May 02, 2009.

By popular demand, Kawneer is bringing its AIA-registered Continuing Education System (CES) programs back to this year’s convention. Each Expo Education program will be conducted within the exhibit’s dedicated learning center (booth #1845). The 15-minute programs provide a convenient format for architect education as well as the opportunity for hands-on product interaction and in-person conversations with product experts.

With several sessions offered daily, participation is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and can qualify as credit toward AIA learning units. The program titles and schedule are:

Achieving a LEED Strategy in Division 8: Glass & Glazing: Glass and glazing directly impact four major LEED categories. Learn how to meet your specific LEED strategies and design goals by specifying glass and glazing products and systems.

Commercial Windows: Configuration and Selection: Discover commercial windows. Learn how to identify window performance classes, select specific window configurations and integrate windows into a building elevation, as well as code considerations.

Unitized Curtain Walls: Introduction and Installation: This program will examine how unitized curtain wall solutions affect labor requirements, improve quality control, help enclose a project quickly and provide for design flexibility.

In addition, Kawneer will showcase its new AA®3200 ISOWEB® Sliding Door and recently introduced Light Satin Aluminum Finish. Designed to meet the challenges of thermal, coastal and hurricane resistant conditions, Kawneer’s new AA®3200 ISOWEB® Sliding Door features contemporary hardware, clean sightlines, sound resistance and endless configuration options, and is ideal for high-end condominiums, hotels and apartments.

Consistent with “truth to materials” trends in the architectural industry, the new Light Satin finish – the first in Kawneer’s growing Architectural Metals series – highlights the natural beauty of aluminum and is designed to make a striking impression. With a chrome-like brightness and a light brushed texture, the Light Satin finish combines a look similar to stainless steel with the flatness and sharp corner aesthetics of extruded aluminum.

The Kawneer booth includes the company’s array of high-performance products with experts available to answer questions and provide technical information. The sizable exhibit will feature four major focus areas: Green Design, Protective Glazing, Unitized Solutions and Thermal Products, revealing Kawneer’s comprehensive product lines. Additionally, Kawneer will feature its new Institutional Booklet, which illustrates the company’s expertise in the institutional market, specifically in the education, healthcare and public segments.
