New Product Models Demonstrate Support of an Emerging Trend in Architecture

NORCROSS, GA -- In support of an emerging trend in Architecture, Kawneer Company, Inc., the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum building products and systems for commercial construction, announced today the launch of its library of Building Information Modeling (BIM) product models. Kawneer has adopted BIM to deliver product specific content to the design community and expects that its growing library of BIM models will enable architects to be more efficient in the design process.

In order to deliver its BIM models to a broad audience, Kawneer has partnered with one of the leading developers of manufacturer specific BIM content in the construction marketplace, BIMWorld.  Providing quality products and systems has become synonymous with the Kawneer name, and collaborating with an industry leader to help deliver this tool ensures the quality that architects and customers have come to expect from Kawneer.

“The development of Kawneer’s library of BIM models has been a true collaboration.  We look forward to continuing this partnership as Kawneer’s product library evolves,” said Mike Collins, managing partner at BIMWorld.

Kawneer’s BIM models are offered in Autodesk® Revit®, as well as a variety of applications, including Graphisoft® ArchiCAD®, Bentley Architecture and Google™ SketchUp.  Kawneer’s library includes a range of products and systems across six major categories: Swing Entrances; Sliding Entrances; Framing; Curtain Wall; Sun Control; and Windows.

“The launch of a library of BIM models is another example of our commitment to providing valuable products and tools to architects and customers,” said Karen Zipfel, director of marketing for Kawneer North America. “The opportunity to further support trends in architecture and help streamline the design process is important to us, and we will continue to work to be an effective resource for the architectural community.”

Kawneer will be introducing and demonstrating its initial BIM model offering at the AIA 2008 National Convention and Design Exposition, May 15 – 17 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (booth #19121).
