Architectural Aluminium Glazing Systems Specification Guide

23 February, 2010

A new, even more user-friendly specification guide to its architectural aluminium systems has been launched by Kawneer to help architects select the most appropriate curtain walling, windows, framing and doors for their projects.

The updated guide includes two new product selectors - for Kawneer’s AA®3610 and AA®3610LS (linked sash) vertical sliding windows and the AA®3110HW healthcare window that maximises ventilation while minimising the risk of self harming.

The unique linked sash mechanism of the AA®3610LS enables the window to open at the bottom and the top simultaneously in one operation. As a result, it is not reliant on the occupant opening multiple vents to provide single-sided ventilation.

The AA®3110HW horizontal sliding window comprises a range of three security windows to suit budget and performance requirements.  Typical anti-ligature features include a wraparound gasket that breaks into harmless pieces when there is an attempt to remove it, a streamlined handle that cannot be used as a ligature point and perforated anti-contraband steel mesh.

These are just two of several new products, as well as new project case studies and CPDs, that feature in the updated guide that also features a more durable and robust polypropylene cover.

The full-colour guide advises on the best product solutions for projects in the education, healthcare, commercial, residential, arts and leisure, Ministry of Defence and Government sectors, as well as bespoke solutions including modular curtain walling systems, which showcase Kawneer’s capabilities.

It also gives design consideration tips such as thermal performance, ventilation requirements, windload, safety, acoustic performance, DDA compliance, testing, glazing/panels, interfaces, installation, cleaning, finishing and drainage.
