Kawneer Systems Help Bury's Ranking Rise

Curtain walling, windows and doors from architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer are being installed on a £350 million regeneration project that will see Bury rise from 159th to 59th in the top 100 UK retail town rankings.
The Kawneer systems – AA®100 curtain walling, AA®601 side-hung casement windows and series 190 heavy-duty commercial entrance doors - are being installed by approved sub-contractor SG Aluminium on elements of the 1.6 millionft² retail-led mixed-use scheme for developer Thornfield Properties.
Designed by BDP architects and due for completion in summer 2010, it comprises 500,000ft² of retail space anchored by Debenhams, on which Kawneer’s curtain walling and doors feature, and another major chain as well as eight flagship stores and a further 60 double-height units.
Some 120,000ft² of leisure space is anchored by a 10-screen Vue cinema on which Kawneer’s curtain walling and doors feature, as well as a 24-lane bowling centre and family restaurants. In addition to the retail and leisure space and a 55,000ft² health centre, there are more than 400 one and two-bedroomed apartments.
