The Pinnacle Schools consortium, consisting of main contractor, Sir Robert McAlpine, facilities manager, Sodexho, and Newcourt Capital, were responsible for designing, building, financing and operating three new schools in Fife, as part of a £160 million public/private partnership (PPP) with Fife Council.  Abbey Holford Rowe of Glasgow designed the three new schools, two secondary and one primary, which replace existing schools in Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath and Anstruther.

More than 800 AA®601 Top Hung casement windows and 400 AA®603 Tilturn windows from the AA®600 Series Window & Door System will be installed across the three schools, together with varying amounts of Kawneer’s Series 1202 Zone Drained Curtain Walling.  The AA®600 Series Window & Door System has been developed to provide the thermal efficiency required by Document J (Scotland) and Document L (England & Wales) of the recently amended Building Regulations.

The three new schools, Queen Anne at Dunfermline, Beath High at Cowdenbeath and Anstruther Primary, will provide accommodation, including sports halls and all weather pitches, for 3,000 secondary and 350 primary school pupils.  Disruption to the children’s school activities will be kept to a minimum as the new facilities are being built on land adjacent to the existing schools.
